Battery Recycling Powering Support

As well as benefiting the environment and recovering precious materials for reuse in manufacturing, your battery recycling efforts support the children, families and staff at LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Every battery recycled by WEEE Ireland goes towards a donation fund to support the vital work provided by LauraLynn.

This support helps LauraLynn to deliver its  specialised hospice and palliative care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families in Ireland.

About LauraLynn

LauraLynn is Ireland’s ONLY children’s hospice. Since opening in 2011, LauraLynn has cared for more than 520 children and their families, and as of now (April 2022), is expanding its services to meet the needs of more. Care is available from 0-18 years and is free of charge to families.

LauraLynn provides short breaks, symptom management, emergency care and end-of-life care to children with life-limiting conditions, and a range of supports to their families including music and play therapy, counselling, social work and family camps. Care is provided in the hospice in Dublin, in the home, and in hospital - depending on the location and medical needs of the child and the family’s preference. As a result of COVID-19 virtual hospice services were developed and these continue to be used in tandem with other services.

LauraLynn Children’s Hospice is hugely dependant on the generosity of the public and business community to fund their services. Last year, in 2021, LauraLynn received core state funding which equated to approximately 33% of the overall operational costs of the hospice and relied on public support to raise the remaining 66%.
