CIRCULÉIRE/IMR

April 28, 2026

Through our extended partnership with Circuleire IMR, WEEE Ireland is helping to advance circular economy solutions and drive collaboration across Ireland’s WEEE and battery industry, supporting circular economy leadership and responsible resource management in Ireland. WEEE Ireland is a proud founding member of the CIRCULEIRE and is delighted to share exciting opportunities for industry to get involved in circular ventures.

Innovation Sprints 2026:

CIRCULÉIRE continues to support Irish industry in driving innovation through the circular transition. We are pleased to share details of their upcoming Innovation Sprints programme, which may be of interest to our Members.

This programme will bring participants on a guided end-to-end journey, designed to help organisations move from early-stage circular ideas to fully framed innovation concepts, ready for pilot delivery or funding applications. The WEEE Ireland compliance team participated in the 2025 Innovation Sprints session. This was a unique opportunity for collaboration, innovation and networking across circular economy and would highly recommend the experience.

No preparation is needed. Just sign up to the kick-off session and come with an idea that you would like to explore deeper. The programme is hybrid and will run from April to July 2026. Register here. Please see below for programme timeline.

EU Circular Shift Procurement Project

CIRCULÉIRE are looking for interested parties to help shape the future of green public procurement in Ireland. They are seeking Irish companies involved in the repair, remanufacturing, refurbishment, and recycling of laptops and phones to participate in a groundbreaking 2027 Public Circular Procurement pilot and value chain working group.

This is an EU-funded initiative, engaging several Member States to conduct pilots that will accelerate the circular economy by scaling up circular procurement practices of phones, laptops & workwear, as examples of frequently procured products in public organisations. CIRCULÉIRE/IMR, strategic partners of WEEE Ireland, will be key actors in the fulfilment of the Irish pilot procurement case.  Project goals include developing and testing a pilot procurement with an Irish public authority, creating a working group to bring stakeholder together and test the scale and spread of future projects.

The project team is currently scoping the Irish pilot from January to June 2026. They intend to have a pilot tender launched by a willing public sector entity in early 2027. This will run for about a year.
