WEEE Ireland Announces Appointment of Three New Board Members

Caroline Bergin, Elizabeth O’Reilly and Jane Carolan Strengthen Board Leadership and Industry Expertise
Caroline Bergin BA, SOLR has been appointed Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman-Designate of the Nomination and Governance Committee. Caroline is a highly respected legal and governance professional with over 30 years’ experience across listed and private organisations in Ireland, the UK and the US. Recognised in The Legal 500 GC Powerlist – Ireland, she holds a Professional Diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD Smurfit School. Her expertise spans governance, risk management, compliance, and board advisory, and she is known for driving best-practice standards and ensuring robust oversight across diverse sectors.
Elizabeth O’Reilly has been appointed Director of WEEE Ireland, bringing over 23 years’ experience in environmental policy, circular economy leadership, and implementing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) solutions for Ireland’s electrical, lighting and battery industries. She’s played a pivotal role in developing WEEE Ireland’s EPR framework since 2005 and offers exceptional insight into turning policy into real-world compliance and impact. Elizabeth will lead government policy and regulatory consultations, advance WEEE Ireland’s circular economy agenda, and has been central to the organisation’s development and membership growth. She represents Irish producers nationally and in Europe, including roles with the National Waste Advisory Group, WEEE Forum, Eucobat, PRONEXA, and PV Cycle. A Chartered Environmentalist and CIWM Council Member, Elizabeth also served as Industry Representative for IMR’s CIRCULÉIRE platform. She is a Chartered Environmentalist, an Irish Centre Council Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), and has served as Industry Representative on the Steering Group for IMR’s CIRCULÉIRE 96yocircular economy platform. Her appointment further strengthens WEEE Ireland’s commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory excellence.

Jane Carolan joins as the Lighting Association of Ireland (LAI) Board representative, strengthening industry representation and bringing vast operational expertise to WEEE Ireland. Jane has over 20 years’ experience in the lighting sector and will represent the priorities and interests of the lighting industry at national level. She is the current Head of Group Operations at Click Ireland Group, where she oversees key business functions and leads operational initiatives focused on growth and compliance. Her career includes roles in both lighting and banking sectors, providing a strong foundation in operational management. Jane’s practical, solutions-focused approach and qualifications in HR Management, Recruitment, and Leadership & Management (UCD) will support WEEE Ireland’s leadership in environmental compliance and the circular economy.
