How to be involved in recycling in your community?
WEEE Irelands community initiatives include public collection day events, providing WEEE trolleys and blue battery recycling boxes. Contact our collections team at firstname.lastname@example.org for any queries on these community initiatives.
Public Collection Day Events
In partnership with Local Authorities and community groups public collection day events are designed to facilitate the collection of WEEE and waste batteries from areas which do not have convenient access to civic amenity sites, as well as raise awareness of free electrical and battery recycling.
WEEE Ireland holds two types of collection events:
Saturday Collection events take place at one location from 10am to 4pm, usually large towns or villages.
WEEE Wagon Days take place on either a Tuesday or Thursday in small towns or villages. Two events in two locations; one event in the morning and another event in the afternoon (events take place for approximately 3 hours in each location).
New WEEE recycling trolleys are available to community groups/schools/offices and businesses. For more information on WEEE recycling trolleys contact WEEE Ireland on Lo-Call 1890 253 252.
WEEE Ireland can provide battery blue boxes for community driven recycling campaigns for local schools or organisations.
Please note, there is minimum delivery and collection requirements of 10 blue battery boxes.
WEEE Ireland is approved by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government which means the scheme must report annually to his Department to help Ireland achieve the European targets for collection and recovery of WEEE and waste batteries.
Not for profit – revenue raised by scheme solely to meet the requirements of members.
