WEEE Want Your Bulbs!

The Great Bulb Exchange is a national CFL recycling campaign which launched on Monday 10th of October and will run for 3 weeks in hardware stores around the country.

Be a bright spark and recycle your waste CFL bulbs at your local hardware store in exchange for a FREE daffodil bulb (while stocks last).

Following on from the success of the pilot campaign last year, WEEE are delighted to have the following hardware stores involved in this great initiative: Topline, Expert Hardware, Woodies, Dairygold Co-op, Glanbia, United Hardware, Stakelums and McKenna Distributors.

Market Research

  • More than 6 out of 10 (62%) Irish adults are aware that energy saving light bulbs can be recycled which is a significant increase compared to 46% last year.
  • Almost a third (32%) of Irish adults indicated they are aware of locations energy saving light bulbs can be recycled which is an increase compared to last year’s results (26%).
  • The number of Irish adults who have recycled energy saving light bulbs in the past 12 months has increased marginally from last year, with more than 1 in 10 (14%) having recycled energy saving light bulbs in the last year compared to 11% in 2014.
